Li Yunqiang escaped from the hospital case and was released on bail until next February

Lee Yun-keung, a 63-year-old man diagnosed with Newcastle pneumonia who left Queen Elizabeth Hospital without permission on the 18th of this month, causing panic in the city, was recovered 53 hours after he disappeared, but refused to disclose his whereabouts during his disappearance. He was charged with one count of “no one shall expose another to the danger of infection” and was arraigned for the first time in the Kowloon City Court today (24).

The magistrate granted the prosecution’s application and adjourned the case to February 5 next year pending police investigation and legal advice. Because Lee Yun-keung has tested negative for the new coronavirus and released from quarantine, he was granted $500 cash bail and is not allowed to leave Hong Kong, reporting to Mongkok Police Station once every two weeks.

Li Yunqiang said in court that he fled the hospital because he was afraid of the injection and medical treatment, not knowing that the consequences would be so serious. He also said that he did not pay the rent because of receiving isolation, and disputes with the landlord, and hoped to be discharged from the hospital to meet with the landlord.
