The US-led push to block China came as Germany joined the US, Britain and France in challenging Beijing’s claims to “territorial waters”, making clear it would send warships to the Indo-Pacific region in response to China’s growing influence in the region, reversing decades of military non-confrontation.

German Defense Minister Annegret Ramram-Karrenbauer stressed that Germany plans to send a German Federal frigate to the Indo-Pacific region in the near future in order to strengthen its alliance with Japan, Australia, the United States and other countries, Japan jijiwa News Agency reported Wednesday.

Earlier this month, the German Cabinet adopted a new Indo-Pacific diplomatic code, naming the importance of freedom of navigation in the Indian Ocean and The South China Sea to The European industrial chain and people’s lives, apparently in preparation for sending warships in the future.

In an interview with Australian media in early November, Krump-Kellenbauer said it was necessary for Germany to participate in the maintenance of freedom of navigation in the South China Sea in view of China’s outward expansion ambitions, and would not rule out conducting missions in the South China Sea with the Australian navy in the future. She also warned China that “resolving the Taiwan question by any means other than peace would be a major failure of governance policy”, and bluntly said that China would surely fail if it faced the Taiwan question “purely on military logic”.

Germany plans to conduct joint training with Japan’s Self-Defense Force and other countries’ forces in the Indo-Pacific region, and is coordinating with other countries to send frigates at the time, what kind of training and where to stop, Krump-Bauer said Wednesday.

According to Jiji Press, this gesture shows that Germany and Europe have a great interest in regional stability and solidarity with friendly countries.

As for China’s claims in the South China Sea, “I understand that China has very big diplomatic, security and economic policy ambitions, but it can’t impose burdens on other countries,” She said. She also noted that Germany submitted a declaration to the United Nations in September reaffirming the validity of a 2016 ruling by the International Court of Arbitration in The Hague on the South China Sea, which rejected China’s sovereignty claims in the area.

She pointed out that Germany will expand its intervention in the south China Sea to maintain maritime order in response to China’s accelerated construction of military bases in the South China Sea in an attempt to change the status quo. Germany will also co-operate with the next US administration.

Newsis news agency of South Korea reported on the 14th analysis, always on the War in Europe outside the region with a cautious attitude of Germany, said that it will intervene in the South China Sea issue, it is rare.
