In a written statement submitted to Parliament on April 21, British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab announced a temporary reduction in foreign aid from 0.7 percent of gross domestic product to 0.5 percent, a cut of 5 billion pounds, with the “harshest” cut being an 81 million pound reduction in aid to the Chinese Communist Party to about 900,000 pounds.
The Breitbart News reported on Tuesday, April 27, that Microsoft founder Bill Gates called on Sunday for the British government to restore the foreign aid budget to 0.7 percent, the sooner the better, in order to address the “unfair” situation in which young people in rich countries get coronavirus vaccines earlier than older people in poor countries.
The statement echoed the call by Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the recently appointed head of the Communist Party-backed World Trade Organization (WTO), who said in February that Britain and other rich countries should donate vaccines to poor countries even before their own populations are vaccinated.
