In recent years, the Xi Jinping administration has launched an anti-corruption storm that has swept through the entire officialdom, with a large number of corrupt officials falling from power. Shaanxi’s officialdom is no exception. A large number of officials have been investigated one after another, and the officialdom continues to be shaken. The highest-ranking official under investigation is Zhao Zhengyong, the former provincial party secretary of Shaanxi. He is the first senior official at the ministerial level to fall in 2019. Zhao Zhengyong was allegedly involved in the “Qinling illegal construction case” and the “Shaanxi 100 billion mining rights case”.

After Zhao was investigated, many of his scandals were exposed, including Zhao’s family-style corruption and the Zhao family’s multiple “white gloves” in various fields. After his downfall, hundreds of people in Shaanxi were interviewed, and the aftershocks have not stopped.
