The 20th expanded meeting of the Politburo of the 7th Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) was held in Pyongyang on 15 March, KCNA reported on 16 March. Kim Jong-un, chairman of the Workers’ Party of Korea, chairman of the State Committee and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, chaired the meeting and held in-depth discussions on further strengthening the national emergency epidemic prevention system and other issues.

At the meeting, Kim conducted a detailed analysis and assessment of the recent spread of the global neo-crown epidemic and the current status of the DPRK’s epidemic prevention, proposed tasks and ways to further strengthen the emergency epidemic prevention front, and stressed the need to build an all-around blockade barrier to further carry out the emergency epidemic prevention war, the report said.

The DPRK was one of the first countries to take control measures following the global emergence of the Sinoconjun epidemic. According to DPRK officials, no case of neo-crown infection has been detected in the DPRK so far.
