UK supermarkets have found counterfeit bottles of Australia’s famous affordable wine brand “Yellow Tail Kangaroo” red wine, and according to wine expert Lacey, most of these fake wines come from China.
According to the British Mirror, the British Birmingham trading standards (Birmingham trading standards) previously received customer complaints that last November in Sutton Coldfield (Sutton Coldfield) KVK supermarket to buy six bottles of Australian “yellow-tailed kangaroo “red wine, after opening the bottle feel the taste is not right.
Trading Standards office officials said that the brand owner CasellaFamily Brands confirmed that the 41 bottles of red wine seized in the supermarket packaged as “yellow-tailed kangaroo” were counterfeit goods.
The Trading Standards Office noted that this was a large-scale fraudulent activity, most likely originating abroad, using organized crime groups based in the UK to distribute and sell these counterfeit products in order to target the UK alcohol market, which is worth up to 3.2 billion British pounds (approximately $108.44 billion Taiwan dollars). This fraud could cause incalculable damage to genuine products.
West Midlands police officer Chris Jones said it was impossible to buy the wine legally and the only way it could be sold was by unscrupulous people driving vans with the fake goods.
Wine experts Lacey (Ewan Lacey) also said that most of these counterfeit goods from China, “China is the center of fake wine”, they are low price to obtain another country’s wine, and then disguised as Australian wine sales.
According to reports, the KVK supermarket involved in the sale of wine license has been revoked on the 8th of this month, in addition to this supermarket, Trading Standards also found such fake wine in a number of stores.
Australia called for an investigation into the origin of the Chinese Communist Party virus (Wuhan pneumonia) last year, triggering a series of retaliations from the Chinese Communist Party, which imposed a high anti-dumping duty of 107.1 to 212.1 percent on red wine imported from Australia at the end of 2020. However, Australia’s wine to get rid of dependence on the Chinese market, re-export to Europe but fill the gap, Australia’s wine exports in 2020 only 1% reduction.
