Australian native app downloads beat Facebook

Australian Prime Minister Morrison.

As the Australian government introduced a bill to force the Internet giant to pay news publishers, media company Facebook last Thursday (18) carried out a threatened action to prevent the Australian public from viewing and sharing news on the Facebook platform, drawing national condemnation from Australia. The U.S. Gateway Pundit reports that Facebook got some bad news today. The homegrown news App from Australia developed in-house by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) is now shining in the App Store, topping Australia’s iOS download charts and beating Facebook.

Facebook has long been plagued by disinformation and malpractice, but sources like the ABC will be validated, the paper said. One journalist user said the new application has its own functional feature advantages.

Facebook last week not only blocked Australians from viewing and sharing news on the platform, but also blocked readers from accessing the Bureau of Meteorology, state health departments, Western Australian opposition leaders and charities. The Australian prime minister even said in a statement that Facebook had attacked a sovereign nation.
