The latest poll released by polling network Echelon Insight on Saturday, February 20, shows that Republican voters’ support for Trump remains on an upward trend after former President Trump (Trump) left office.
The pollster polled 1,005 registered Republican voters and 403 Republican or Leaning Republican voters between February 12 and 18. The results show that 55 percent of Republican voters want Trump to run in 2024, up from 45 percent in January. But support for Trump among registered voters fell to 62 percent from 68 percent in January.
The poll also showed that if the 2024 election were held on the day of the poll, the number of Republican and leaning Republican voters who would absolutely vote themselves, and only for Trump, increased by 7% from January.
In other Republican candidates in the Republican Party and leaning Republican voters, former Vice President Mike Pence is in second place, winning 22% support; followed by Texas Senator Ted Cruz (Ted Cruz), with 10% support; Florida Governor Ronald DeSantis (Ronald DeSantis), with 8% support; Trump’s eldest son Donald Jr.
Among them, Cruz’s approval rating improved by 2% compared to January, and DeSantis’s approval rating improved by 6%. The poll was conducted before Cruz was criticized by the public for his vacation to Cancun, Mexico, during the recent disaster in Texas.
The poll also showed former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley with 6 percent support, and Maine U.S. Senator Mitt Romney with 4 percent support.
Analysts at Breitbart News believe the poll results show that the outgoing Trump is still gaining support among Republican and leaning Republican voters, which could pose a threat to establishment Republicans.
