Forced isolation Heilongjiang Wangkui elementary school students mental breakdown nearly fell off the building

On February 5, an elementary school in Suihua Wangkui County, Heilongjiang Province, was placed in a prolonged quarantine, with some of its students nearly having nervous breakdowns and nearly falling off buildings.

The reporter interviewed Wang Yi (a pseudonym), a parent of a child at the school, who said, “There are at least a hundred children in the supplementary school who are in forced centralized isolation. My child wanted to go Home and was so emotionally unstable that he almost jumped from the fourth floor.”

Wang Yi said sadly, January 6 to January 19, the child has been home isolation for 14 days; later came to centralized isolation for 14 days, just when the child thought the isolation was almost over, suddenly another notice to add another seven days.

“Learning this news, the child was very unstable and kept telling me, ‘Mom let’s climb out of the window and go home.’ And then I also told the child, ‘That’s not okay, that’s not okay.'”

Wang Yi said that just at noon on Feb. 3, when she picked up the child’s meal, the child had climbed onto the windowsill. “We live on the fourth floor, there is no guardrail on the windowsill, fortunately, it was found in Time, to persuade the child down, very dangerous. I can not imagine what will happen, I really can not accept! It’s really quite devastating!”

Wang Yi revealed that more than a hundred children in the language school’s remedial classes were aged between 8 and 12 years old. “The community suddenly informed us on the night of January 19 that the children should go to centralized isolation and that Parents could go with them if they applied. Our Family I applied, the child’s father stayed at home.”

The community gave Wang Yi the reason that the child was a close contact, “that night, pull us away from the isolation, isolated in a certain hotel in Suihua.”

Wang Yi later learned in the tutorial class parents group that on January 6, the parents of a student in his child’s tutorial class went to Liu Hongjiang Tun in Huizi County, and on January 10, the outbreak prevention and control center sent out a message that there were confirmed cases in Li Jinhua Tun next to the close contacts and sub-close contacts need to be centrally isolated.

“We belong to the sub-classified connection, and we were implicated. At that time, Liu Hongjiang Tun, Li Jinhua Tun, Hongjiatun and two other tunnels, the personnel were all centrally quarantined.”

Wang Yi said, “At the very beginning, I was not so angry, because it was an Epidemic, we all cooperate with the government. Later, I learned from the WeChat group of parents of the tutorial class that the children of the tutorial class of the same teacher, part of the home isolation, part of the centralized isolation, the teacher who teaches is also home isolation. We just don’t understand how this is arranged?”

Wang Yi revealed that after the child’s close call, she communicated with school leaders and teachers in the school’s WeChat group, but none of them had a reply.

“I told them that the child is emotionally unstable, if an accident happens, who can be responsible for it? All of our parents of centrally isolated children have approached the command center, the flow transfer team, the isolation team, and all the phone calls have been made. Why are the same people, some home isolation, some centralized isolation, teachers can be home isolation. And why do you need another 7 days after 14 days of centralized isolation?”

However, none of the departments made any positive response.

Wang Yi said, “During the isolation period, the children did not have a smile, and they did not eat after one or two bites. These 8, 9-year-old children, in an unfamiliar environment, although accompanied by parents, but stay for a long time, the child is also on fire.”

Wang Yi said she is from a rural background and does not care about the poor conditions of isolation, but the centralized isolation of the hotel, before they live in and during isolation, feel that the room is not disinfected, and does not provide alcohol and disinfectant solution, to the late, only to provide a little disinfectant tablets.

Wang Yi also questioned, “This language school is also under the control of the Education Bureau. The Education Bureau has issued a general school holiday, but the remedial classes are still being taught, and the Education Bureau has not made any rules for the seven-star language school to make up the classes online.”

“All the children need to attend the remedial classes because all the other children are attending and we are not, we are afraid that our children will not be able to keep up with the curriculum in school. I regret enrolling my child in this remedial class and making my child suffer so much.”

After 17 days of intensive isolation, Wang Yi and her child finally returned home on Feb. 5, but will continue to be isolated at home for seven days. But after 7 days whether to be able to enter and leave freely, has not been clear.

Wang Yi also revealed that “a day earlier than we concentrated isolation in Suiling, Qing’an, Zhao Dong children have not yet returned home.”
