Aaron Kinsel, a garbage truck driver for Rumpke Waste & Recycling in Ohio, was collecting garbage in Cincinnati when he noticed a discarded backpack shaking and got out to open it to find a puppy about 10 weeks old. Members of Rumpke are currently providing veterinary care for the puppy.
Kinsel revealed in a statement released through the company that he was probably destined to find it. If he hadn’t been alert, the puppy would have been crushed by the garbage truck’s compactor.
In addition to Kinsell’s kindness in keeping the dog warm in his jacket, other Rumpke employees took him to the veterinarian, where he was found to have a broken leg and symptoms of dehydration and was being cared for. And Kinsel and the Family have decided to adopt the puppy.
Kendra Catherman, Lompoc’s Cincinnati safety manager, noted that the company’s garbage truck drivers are trained to stay alert as they go along.
After the incident, American netizens praised Kinsel as a hero, also expressed their gratitude, and many people want to “buy him a drink”, some also asked if there is a donation pipeline.
