Antifa activists carrying skull and crossbones flags, posing as “Trump supporters,” stormed the Capitol and clashed with police on Jan. 6.
Wednesday’s (Jan. 6) joint session of the U.S. Congress was interrupted for several hours by violent clashes. Evidence is mounting that this was an organized riot involving a large number of Antifa members in a peaceful protest aimed at discrediting Trump supporters.
On Wednesday afternoon, a large crowd gathered in front of Capitol Hill to call on lawmakers to oppose the certification results in the six swing states. During that time, some people stormed Congress, sparking a brief riot. Shortly after the incident, some people on the scene posted a video pointing out that it was the police who intentionally opened the iron railings in the middle of the road and greeted the people to rush into the Congress.
A witness also said he heard a conversation between far-left “Antifa” elements disguised as Trump supporters, who were plotting how to disrupt the peaceful protest.
I could hear them talking, hear what they were trying to do,” he said. I heard them say that they want to stir up trouble, stir up emotions. These people just look bad, and I saw them break the glass of the Capitol.”
“I’m an emergency management coordinator from Pennsylvania. These people were in a circle, talking about what they could do. I stood behind them and listened to them talk about what they might do to make the Trump supporters look bad.” The eyewitness said.
Another video shows a Trump supporter recording herself on her way out of Congress talking about what she learned at the protest.
She said, “We’re not sure why this is happening at the Capitol, but I’ll tell you what I saw with my own eyes today. There were members of Antifa, dressed as Trump supporters who infiltrated, and I believe they were the ones who broke the doors and windows and stormed the Capitol. This is the reality of what happened and it was a ‘set up’ to make Trump supporters look bad. Those people are not patriots.”
The violent clashes in the U.S. Congress have also drawn global attention. In a Facebook post on Jan. 8, Australian federal lawmaker George Christensen (D-CA) blasted the U.S. left and the fake news media as “hypocrites” for smearing the legitimate protest as a “rebellion” and attempted “coup” just because a small group of protesters started a riot. “and attempted “coup d’état,” even though that was not the case.
He also criticized the leftist and fake news media, which have long avoided talking about the violent protests by far-left groups such as Antifa, for “showing their hypocrisy” by reporting heavily on the Congress event.
In addition, several major social media outlets, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, began blocking Trump’s account Wednesday afternoon after he posted a video calling on his supporters to end violence and return home safely, while also reiterating that the election was stolen.
On Thursday, Mexican President López Obrador expressed regret over the onslaught on the U.S. Congress and said he could not accept social media’s censorship of speech.
“I don’t like anyone being censored, being denied their right to send messages on Twitter or Facebook.” He said.
