One of those involved in the storming of the Capitol has been identified as John Earle Sullivan, a Black Lives Matter (BLM) extremist from Sandy, Salt Lake County, Utah. Sullivan was taken into police custody on Thursday (7).
Police arrested Sullivan Thursday night next to the Hamilton hotel in the K block of 14th Street in Washington, D.C.
According to local Utah television station KUTV, Sullivan founded the leftist group Insurgence USA after national riots erupted in the United States last year over the death of black man Gorge Floyd in police custody. The group’s political views clearly differ from Trump’s, but Sullivan has been present at several protests in Washington this week, including, of course, a rally in front of the Capitol on Wednesday.
Sullivan told KUTV that he got inside the Capitol through a broken window. He also said a woman was shot and killed in the process and that he was standing next to her when it happened.
According to a sworn police statement, Sullivan was a member of the group American Insurrection, which planned to kick “these fascists out of Washington” on Jan. 6.
Sullivan, 25, was arrested and charged in July 2020 for organizing the Black Lives Matter/Antifa riots in which one victim was shot and killed.
Sullivan and his group, American Riot, posted on social media last June, inciting people to join them in a demonstration in Provo, Utah, which was not officially sanctioned, according to sworn statements. The event was not officially sanctioned.
Sullivan prevented vehicles from moving freely and legally on the streets, and during the demonstration, two handguns were brandished and two shots were fired at a motorist heading to Home Depot. Both the demonstrators and Sullivan damaged the vehicle.
According to the affidavit, Sullivan was also caught on camera threatening to beat up a woman in an SUV sport hatchback, then kicking her in the door and leaving a dent.
During the demonstration, as an organizer of the demonstration, Sullivan heard shots fired and saw smoke coming from the gun, but he did not condemn or try to stop the murders, nor did he assist the police with the investigation afterward.
