Trump account is blocked! Former diplomat warns: Facebook’s move deepens confrontation

Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg said yesterday that Facebook and Instagram will continue to block President Trump‘s account until he leaves the White House, a move that our former diplomat Liu Shijie thinks is inappropriate, warning that it will “deepen the confrontation between different political positions on social media.

Zuckerberg said on Facebook on the 7th that he would extend the blocking of Trump’s Facebook and IG accounts indefinitely and for at least the next 2 weeks until the peaceful transfer of power, stressing that “the risk of allowing the president to continue using our platform during this period is too great”.

The former diplomat Liu Shijie said on Facebook that Zuckerberg’s decision was inappropriate and he could not approve of it, he said “Trump has announced yesterday that 1/20 will orderly transition, so why did Facebook announce to do so”?

As to whether Zuckerberg’s move is personal, Liu replied, “Honestly, I think the decision is personal. It is a public humiliation of the current U.S. president and Trump supporters by Facebook, which will only deepen the political conflict”.
