Los Angeles Chinese Consulate’s new rules increase CT testing for positive antibodies to China

The Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles has issued another important new regulation, which requires people who test positive for antibodies to take a CT test.

If you return to China from Los Angeles, you will have to take a CT test if you are positive for the new coronary antibody! The Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles has issued a new rule that passengers who have been diagnosed with Newcastle pneumonia (CCP), or who have not been diagnosed but tested positive for either nucleic acid or IgM antibodies, will be required to undergo an additional CT test and be quarantined for 14 days if they depart from Los Angeles.

The official notice from the Chinese Consulate points out that the current global Epidemic situation is still very serious, and the risk of transmission of infection in cross-border travel remains high. In order to further improve remote prevention and control and prevent the importation of the epidemic from abroad, the Consulate General in Los Angeles supplemented the notice on matters related to dual testing: I. Avoid transit of third countries to China for people in the United States. Starting from February 18, 2021, the Consulate General will no longer issue health codes for persons traveling from the United States to China via third countries. 2. Third-country travelers should be cautious in choosing to travel to China via Los Angeles. Persons with a history of Newcastle pneumonia should apply for a Health Code after they have recovered from the disease and been monitored and examined in isolation. Passengers with a history of New Coronary Pneumonia infection who have been diagnosed with New Coronary Pneumonia, or who have not been diagnosed but tested positive for either nucleic acid or IgM antibodies, should follow the following procedures if departing from Los Angeles: (a) Undergo a lung examination after recovering from the disease and undergo 2 nucleic acid tests (with a sampling interval of no less than 24 hours), and submit a diagnostic certificate issued by the hospital containing CT or X-ray results of the lungs and 2 nucleic acid (2) After the Consulate General’s approval, the consulate will submit the certificate of the hospital containing the CT or X-ray results of the lung and the certificate of the two negative tests by email to the Consulate General. (2) After the Consulate General’s approval, please continue the isolation management and health status monitoring for 14 days by yourself. (c) If the isolation monitoring is normal, you are required to undergo a “double test” within 2 days before departure and submit the corresponding certificate to apply for a health code. After the announcement of the new regulation, especially the requirement of CT test for antibody positivity, there were many complaints. One user said that CT testing in the U.S. is not cheap, and can cost several hundred dollars even with insurance, or several thousand dollars without insurance. It is also very troublesome to make an appointment, first you have to get a certificate from your Family doctor, and then you have to go to the testing center to make an appointment. Now during the epidemic the testing centers are limiting the flow, and it may take a month or two to make an appointment.

Not only will people infected with the new crown test positive for antibodies, but those who have been vaccinated may also test positive for antibodies. Chinese Mr. Li, who just recently finished two doses of the vaccine, said he wanted to be safer by finishing the vaccination before returning to China, but he didn’t expect the new rules to come out and become a stumbling block instead. He was told that if he had proof of vaccination in China, he could pass the test, but if he had received the vaccine in the U.S., it might not be a valid proof. If he waited for a positive antibody test, he would have to wait for a long Time.
