Louisiana congressman-elect dies of disease, first case in Congress

Rep. Luke Letlow (R-Louisiana) died Tuesday (Dec. 29) at the age of 41 from coronavirus (COVID-19, a Chinese communist virus).

This is the first death of a member of Congress or elected member of Parliament after contracting the disease.

Letlow was declared positive for Covid-19 on Dec. 18 and has been in the intensive care unit at Ochsner LSU health in Shreveport since the 23rd.

“The family appreciates the outpouring of prayers and support over the past few days, but wishes to maintain privacy during this difficult and unexpected time,” the family said in a statement sent to local media.

Letkov was supposed to be sworn into Congress this Sunday, Jan. 4, 2021.

Prior to his election to the House, Letkoff served as chief of staff to former Rep. Ralph Abraham (D-Mich.).

Lettreau and his wife have two young children.
