Reps call on DOJ to send special prosecutor to investigate Hunt

On Monday, Dec. 28, Arizona Republican U.S. Rep. Debbie Lesko (D) said she wants the Justice Department to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Hunter Biden, son of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden.

Lesko said the same day in response to a tweet sent by Arizona U.S. Rep. Andy Biggs (R) that she and Biggs are jointly calling for a special prosecutor to investigate Hunter. A representative for Lesko confirmed to Fox News that Lesko had sent a letter to the attorney general earlier this month asking him to do so, citing the special prosecutor as the only way to ensure a thorough and complete investigation into Hunt’s case.

In addition to Lesko and Biggs, Republican U.S. Rep. Ken Buck (R-Mich.) was the first to call on the Justice Department last week to establish a special prosecutor to investigate Hunt. Buck said at the time that special counsel Bob Mueller, who is investigating Russia, had set a “precedent” for such an investigation.

Federal prosecutors in Delaware have reportedly been investigating Hunter’s tax affairs since 2018. However, the so-called mainstream media did not publicly disclose the information until recently in order not to influence Biden’s presidential campaign.

In September 2020, Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Ron Johnson (R-WI), along with Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA), released a report on Hunter’s business affairs, alleging that “[Hunter] and his family were involved in a vast financial network that connected them to foreign nationals and foreign governments around the globe.”

According to the New York Post, Hunt used his father’s position as then-vice president of the United States in both China and Ukraine to engage in shady business dealings from which he reaped substantial benefits. For example, Hunt, who had no experience in the energy industry, served as a consultant and director on the board of the Ukrainian energy company Brisma, earning a monthly salary of $50,000. And Pobrinsky, Hunter’s former partner and CEO of the Biden family’s company in China, has personally come forward to confirm Hunter’s business ties to the Chinese Communist Party.

In October 2020, the New York Post exclusively revealed an explosive series of emails, pictures and videos from Hunter’s hard drive, which exposed details of the Biden family’s improper business dealings overseas, in addition to pictures and videos of Hunter’s personal sexual misconduct. All of this information is now part of a federal tax investigation.

Biden, however, recently said he has full confidence in his son, adding that Republicans are using the Hunt incident to make personal attacks on him.

Former U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr, who left just last week, has said he sees no need for a special inspector general to investigate Hunter.
