U.S. intelligence officials say that the Chinese Communist Party has been experimenting on military personnel, hoping to produce “super soldiers” with greater biological capabilities through genetic modification, in a clear violation of ethical boundaries. In response, Israeli media have suggested that this could lead to a Gog and Magog war, the Biblical war of the end times, before the Messiah (the Savior) appears.
U.S. Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe wrote to the Wall Street Journal on Dec. 3 that U.S. intelligence indicates that the Chinese Communist Party has been experimenting on soldiers with the intent of producing warriors with bio-enhanced capabilities. He criticized the Chinese authorities for having “no moral boundaries” in their pursuit of power.
He also said that the Chinese Communist Party is the greatest threat to American and global democracy and freedom since World War II and is intent on dominating the world economically, militarily and technologically.
In an article published last year, the Jamestown Foundation, a Washington, D.C., think tank, said Communist scientists have been studying the possibility of biotechnology applications for future battlefields, including brain-machine interfaces and CRISPR gene editing technology.
The website “Israel365 News” (Israel365 News) reports that Chinese Communist scientists are not bound by moral and ethical restrictions to use genetically modified animals to grow human-like organs, and that this technology is also believed to enhance the combat effectiveness of soldiers. Radcliffe’s article implies that the Chinese Communist Party is actively conducting research in this area.
The site claims that such genetically modified soldiers could be the Gog and Magog mentioned in the Bible. The Christian view is that Gog and Magog are Satan’s henchmen who will rebel against God at the end of the millennium. Judaism, on the other hand, advocates that Gog and Magog are the enemies of the Messiah and will be defeated by the Messiah, thus inaugurating the Messianic age. The Messiah will eventually appear.
The website mentions that the prophets described the war between Gog and Magog as nothing like what it was in Biblical times. The prophet Zechariah described a gruesome situation that resembled the aftermath of a germ war, rather than the wounds produced by an attack with traditional weapons such as bows, spears or swords.
The prophet Isaiah described a war like a global nuclear war. Book of Isaiah 24:19 reads, “The ground was devastated, and all the earth was broken up and greatly shaken.”
And the warriors of Gog and Magog referred to by the prophet Ezekiel may be the reappearance of the Rephaim (giants), who may even have been genetically modified to have greater powers.
