Japan suspended new arrivals from all over the world from 28

Due to the rapid spread of the new coronavirus in Japan and the spread of the mutated new coronavirus, The Japanese government announced on December 26 an emergency suspension of new entry of people from all countries and regions from December 28 until the end of January next year.

In Japan, 3,881 new cases of novel coronavirus were confirmed on the 26th, a record high. This is the fourth consecutive day of a new single-day record. According to prefectures, Tokyo has the most new infections with 949 people, Osaka with 299 people, Saitama and Aichi with 265 people. Tokyo, Shiga, Miyagi, Tochigi and Kyoto set new all-time highs.

Currently, the UK is spreading the mutated new coronavirus, it is reported that a man in his 30s who had traveled to the UK and his family, and a woman in her 20s newly confirmed infected with the mutated new coronavirus, the two live in Tokyo, and the diagnosis was confirmed by the testing authorities in the city. The man is a pilot and is not subject to airport quarantine, so he is exempt from testing. The woman has not been to the UK recently, so the Ministry of health, Labour and Welfare believes she was infected by the man in Japan. This is the first time that a mutated virus has been confirmed to have been transmitted from person to person in Japan.

Labor Minister Kenji Tamura announced at a press conference on Dec. 25 that a total of five travelers returning to Japan from the United Kingdom are now confirmed to be infected with the mutated New Coronavirus. The five infected persons returned to Japan from the UK in mid to late December.

To prevent the further spread of the virus and the continued introduction of the mutated New Coronavirus, the Japanese government has decided to adopt strict entry restrictions. From December 28 this year to the end of January 2021, in principle, new entry of foreigners from all countries and regions around the world will be suspended, but entry of Japanese nationals and foreigners with Japanese residency status will be allowed, and entry will continue to be allowed regarding the movement of business-related personnel, etc., who have reached intergovernmental agreements with 11 countries and regions, including mainland China, except Hong Kong and Macau, as well as Thailand and Taiwan.
