Internet writer “Fat Pig Full Circle Lao Li” sentenced to one year in prison for posting articles flirting with the epidemic

Beijing-based Internet writer “Fat Pig Full Circle Lao Li” (formerly known as Li Guibao) was sentenced to one year in prison by a Haidian court for picking quarrels and provoking trouble for posting articles flirting with the epidemic and was taken into custody on Dec. 24, 2020.

The news said that Li Guibao’s case is a typical case of punishment for words. Li Guibao’s published self-report on the case said he wrote an article, 7,000 words, on April 9, 2020, in which he mostly flirted and talked about the epidemic. But two days later he was taken away by Beijing public security and detained. He was later released on bail, and twice under additional investigation. the trial started on December 3, 2020, and on the 24th he was informed that he had been sentenced to one year in prison for provocation and nuisance.

Li Guibao said that only a dozen people knew about his arrest and sentencing, and it was not said online. It took 8 months and 10 days of suffering from his arrest to his sentencing. Now his case will be made public because after the 24th, “if the prison, that can not write.
