The epidemic is still prolonged, the Chinese Communist Party intends to resume the two meetings in early March next year

The 24th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 13th National People’s Congress (NPC) was held in Beijing yesterday (Dec. 22), and Tam Yiu-chung, a Hong Kong NPC Standing Committee member, disclosed to the media that next year’s NPC session is scheduled to open on March 5 in accordance with the usual practice.

The 24th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 13th National People’s Congress of the Communist Party of China opened yesterday, and Hong Kong delegate Tam Yiu-chung disclosed that the meeting that morning made a clarification that the National People’s Congress session in 2021 is scheduled to open on March 5, and the schedule is still to be approved, but it is believed that no more video conference will be held.

According to the Chinese Communist Party’s practice, the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference usually opens on March 3, the NPC session opened on March 5. The session usually lasts about 10 days.

This year, due to the impact of the CCP virus (Wuhan pneumonia) epidemic, the two sessions were postponed to late May and shortened to seven days.

Tam Yiu-chung did not mention how long next year’s session would be, but noted that the focus would be on the 14th Five-Year Plan.

Previously, the mainland media reported that provinces had set their provincial congresses for 2021, mostly in mid- to late-January.

But with the epidemic now raging across China and many provinces in a state of war, and with Chinese experts warning of a cold winter and a high-risk period from mid-December to the end of January next year, it is hard to say whether the provincial and national congresses will be held as scheduled.

It is also worth noting that after the outbreak in Wuhan late last year, the authorities may have deliberately concealed the outbreak because of the two sessions. According to a review by the mainland media “First Financial”, the Wuhan health Commission first disclosed 27 confirmed pneumonia cases on Dec. 31, which gradually increased to 59 cases in the following days. But in several notifications from Jan. 6 to 17, no more cases were added, and the number of confirmed cases dropped from 59 to 41. It was not until the notification on January 18 that the number of confirmed cases increased slightly on January 16 and began to increase significantly in the following days to 572 cases (as of January 24), including 38 deaths.

This figure is feared to have been scaled down due to the CCP’s consistent concealment.

In addition, in four notifications on December 31, January 3, 5, and 11, the Wuhan Municipal Health Commission explicitly stated that “no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission was found, and no medical personnel were found to be infected”.

In the 12 days between January 6 and 17, when no new cases were reported, two meetings were held in Wuhan City and Hubei Province, from January 6 to 10, and from January 11 to 17, in Hubei Province.

But the fact is that many hospitals reported that during this period, hospitals sent specimens of suspected patients for testing without results for several days.

Now that the epidemic is rearing its ugly head again, it is time to hold two meetings around the world, and it is worthwhile to pay attention to whether history will repeat itself again.
