Acting Secretary of National Security: Communist China is trying to subvert the American way of life

Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Chad Wolf on Dec. 20 confirmed intelligence agencies’ assessment that the Chinese Communist Party poses a threat to the United States. He said the Chinese Communist Party’s goal is to disrupt the American way of life.

Wolf spoke at a web conference hosted by the Heritage Foundation that day. He said, “The Chinese Communist Party poses a threat to the livelihood, wealth and happiness of every American. Your family, your education, your job, your pension and your health – all of these are threatened by the Chinese Communist Party. Our conflict with the Chinese Communist Party is nothing less than a clash of civilizations.”

Wolff said the founding fathers of the United States had the vision to make the United States a bastion of freedom, a model of democracy and a beacon of hope for the world’s suffering people – including those fleeing dictatorial tyranny – while the Chinese Communist Party is fundamentally opposed to freedom, economic openness and democratic society, and sees the United States as a “political and ideological threat” that wants to turn the world into what it is – a planned economy and an authoritarian system.

John Ratcliffe, director of national intelligence, said in a Dec. 3 op-ed in the Wall Street Journal, “Intelligence clearly shows that the Chinese Communist Party seeks to dominate the United States and the rest of the world economically, militarily and technologically.

The Chinese Communist Party’s Key Tricks to Dismantle the U.S. from Within

In his speech, Wolf warned that the Chinese Communist Party is attempting to use disinformation and a propaganda machine to dismantle the United States from within. He said that while it is difficult to detail every tactic used by the CCP to attack the United States, he could list some of the major subterfuges.

“Every day,” Wolf said, “CCP agents are releasing disinformation, misleading the American public, pressuring politicians, shaping the discourse in the U.S. in favor of the CCP, and creating a pandemic of the deadly COVID-19 (Chinese Communist virus) in which responsibility was shifted to other countries.”

He said the CCP used cultural and commercial exchanges to infiltrate all levels of U.S. government for the purpose of implementing pro-communist policies across the U.S. Wolf also emphasized that the CCP used cyber attacks to undermine the U.S. economy and infrastructure.

“The Chinese Communist Party’s hacking capabilities should alert all Americans,” Wolfe said, “A single Communist Party cyberattack could cause catastrophic damage to our critical infrastructure.”

Wolfe added, “The Chinese Communist Party is the number one threat to the United States when it comes to supply chain security, when it comes to the continued emergence of counterfeit goods.” He listed pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, auto parts, and most recently personal protective equipment used during pandemics as some of the items produced to gain economic advantage for the CCP.

FBI Director Christopher Wray also warned in July that the Chinese Communist Party’s counterintelligence and commercial espionage was the “greatest long-term threat” to the U.S. economy and national security.

In a statement in November, Wray said, “The theft of sensitive information and technology by the Chinese Communist Party is not anecdotal, nor is it an unfounded accusation; it is a very real situation, orchestrated by the Chinese government (CCP).” He said the FBI initiates a new counterintelligence case related to the Chinese Communist Party every 10 hours.

In his speech, Wolf also outlined President Trump‘s strategy for the entire administration to respond to the Chinese Communist threat and tighten its policies toward the Chinese regime to deter Communist attacks on the United States.

Wolf concluded by stating that the Department of Homeland Security will soon release a strategic plan for countering the Chinese Communist regime, “an entirely new plan based on President Trump’s ‘2017 National Security Strategy’ and ‘2020 U.S. Strategic Approach to the People’s Republic of China (CCP)’.”
