Deng Peiran, deputy secretary of the CPC Shijiazhuang Municipal Committee and mayor of Hebei Province, is suspected of serious disciplinary violations and is currently under disciplinary review and supervisory investigation by the Hebei Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision.
The CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision website released the above news on Dec. 21.
Deng Peiran, 57, has been working in Hebei since he was deputy general manager of Hebei Material Storage and Transportation Corporation, secretary of the disciplinary committee of Hebei Material Production Enterprise (Group) Company, and head of the disciplinary inspection team of the Hebei Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection in the Provincial Department of Education, and in 2007 he became deputy director of the Hebei Provincial Department of Supervision, and in the following year he became a member of the Standing Committee of the Tangshan Municipal Party Committee and secretary of the Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection.
In December 2016, he became deputy secretary of the Shijiazhuang Municipal Party Committee, and in April of the following year, he also became the mayor of Shijiazhuang.
According to Beijing Youth Daily, Deng Peiran also made frequent appearances before his investigation, including attending the ninth meeting of the Shijiazhuang Municipal Party Committee’s Comprehensive and Deepening Reform Committee on December 18 and meeting with Suleiman Yuseyin, deputy secretary of the Kullu Municipal Party Committee and mayor of Kullu, and other members of his party, together with the secretary of the CPC Shijiazhuang Municipal Party Committee.
The outside world particularly noted that Deng Peiran, who worked in the so-called discipline inspection system for many years, had published a special book on anti-corruption entitled “The Road to Innovation: A New Model for Anti-Corruption and Integrity Building in Tangshan City” in 2010 while he was deputy director of the Supervision Department. The book was published by Founder Press, which is under the supervision of the Supervision Department of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China.
For example, Zhang Zhinan, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee and vice governor, who was double-opened in late September, liked to dance with literature and ink, and had published many articles about cleanliness, and had also published an article on “Character and “Official Character””. The article “official character” said “a person’s time as an official is limited, and being a person is a lifetime thing… The official character comes precisely from the character of the person.”
So netizens mocked, “How ironic! But all CCP officials are like this, full of benevolence and morality, but behind the scenes, they are men and women who steal!”
