State vessels Taiwan re-launched patrol vessels and mine-laying vessels

Taiwan has made every effort to promote the construction of state vessels, submarine vessels and national machinery, following the delivery and launching of the Haixun “Anping” and “Chenggong” on November 11. The first Tuojiang-class missile patrol ship of the PLA Navy was named and launched at The Longde Shipyard in Yilan on the morning of No. 15. There was also the launch of the brayboat today.

President Tsai Ing-wen said at the ceremony that the addition of the two classes of ships will be able to adapt to the battlefield environment, make tactical planning more flexible and achieve the purpose of deterring and delaying the landing. It is of great significance to the improvement of combat power.

Promoting the construction of state vessels and demonstrating the determination to safeguard national sovereignty will also boost the technology and energy of the defense and shipbuilding industries, Tsai said. In the future, Taiwan may also become a source of relevant equipment and components for western democracies, driving the upgrading of the defense industry.

The Tuojiang-class missile patrol ship is named “Tajiang” after the indigenous people. The “Tajiang” is taken from Tawa River in Taitung County. The river basin belongs to the living area of the Paiwan ethnic group, who have taken hunting as their main economic activity since ancient times and have inherited hunting culture from generation to generation. The Chinese character “Pagoda” symbolizes that the frigate Tajiang was at the forefront of democracy and freedom, responsible for Taiwan’s maritime fortress and defending the maritime frontiers of the Republic of China.

According to the information released by the PLA Navy, the TAjiang has a full speed of 30 knots, a full displacement of about 685 tons, a full draft of about 2.1 meters, and a endurance of more than 1,800 knots. The weapon system is equipped with 76 mm fast guns, square cannons and T-74 row machine guns. The detection and search system is equipped with 3D air search radar, plane search radar and fire control radar. The electric warfare system is equipped with threat early warning electric detection system, laser early warning system and jamming missile launching system.

The brayboat also launched today has a full load speed of 14 knots, a full load displacement of 347 tons and a full load draft of 1.607 meters. It is equipped with T-74 row machine gun and T-75-20 gun, and has an automatic bray system developed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
