On December 9, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo delivered a speech titled “The Chinese Communist Party challenges U.S. National security and academic freedom” in Atlanta, Georgia.
In an interview with Newsmax on Monday, SECRETARY of State Mike Pompeo said the Chinese Communist Party is the greatest threat to the American people and anyone in the free world. Communist Party leader Xi Jinping plans to use a policy of “civil-military integration” to strengthen the armed forces.
Pompeo began by saying that since President Trump took office, he has fundamentally changed U.S. foreign policy for a long time, broken through many barriers and achieved great success, directly keeping Americans safe. “America First is not just about the United States of America,” he said. “It means we put the American people and their security first.”
“Whether it’s the work of repositioning the world to understand the threat posed by the Chinese Communist Party, or the fact that we have now created great peace and stability throughout the Middle East and held Iran back, there is a long list of international successes in the first four years of this administration.” He said.
Pompeo said the Chinese Communist Party establishes hegemony to expand its reach and power. The Communist Party uses commerce to do this, including the theft of millions of American jobs. These are the things that pose a real risk to the American people.
‘Both parties in the U.S. have looked away and succumbed to the Communist Party,’ he said. Trump is the first, and not politically motivated, president to begin a shift in U.S. policy toward building alliances in democracies and free market economies around the world to deter the Chinese communist threat.
The United States will address the Chinese Communist Challenge by infiltrating American academia and politics
Last Wednesday, Pompeo gave a keynote address at the Georgia Institute of Technology on the Chinese Communist Party’s threat, which focused on the infiltration of Chinese communist spies into U.S. educational institutions and the party’s financing of American universities.
When the Newsmax host pointed out that in his speech, the Secretary of State talked about Xi’s sinister intentions, Pompeo explained that there are now 360,000 Chinese students studying in the United States. Some of them just come here to study, but many also return home (with a purpose).
“We care deeply about the Chinese people. We want them to succeed.” He said.
“But we can’t let them steal secrets from our leading research institutions, such as Georgia Tech. We will not allow Confucius Institutes to act in ways that are not good for the American people. That’s the approach president Trump is taking. We began to succeed. There is still a lot of work to be done.” “Pompeo said.
Last week, a bombshell report revealed that a female Communist party operative had infiltrated Democratic politics with money and sexual bribes, even “grooming” new Democratic politicians for years, including an affair with Eric Swalwell, a veteran Democratic Congressman.
In the Newsmax interview, Pompeo talked about the Chinese Communist Party’s influence campaign and its infiltration of U.S. politics, including mayors and state and city councilors. “We have seen the work that they [the Communist Party] have done in sending MSS [the Communist Party’s security department] officials close to [US] congressmen,” he said. They are trying to influence the way our elected officials and our candidates think about China, and this is something that may continue to be penetrated by executive branches like ours.”
Speaking about THE United States’ efforts to counter Communist Party infiltration, Pompeo mentioned the closure of the Chinese consulate in Houston. “We went straight to the Houston consulate. They [the Communist Party] are spying in what should have been a diplomatic way.” He said.
“If the United States does the right thing, I will be confident that the United States will meet the challenge of the Chinese Communist Party as well as the challenge.” “Said the secretary.
The Communist Party has no credibility that must validate everything it claims
The host refers to the arrest by the Chinese Communist Party of Hong Kong media tycoon Lai Chi-ying. Pompeo sees it as another example of Xi breaking promises.
“Lai is a true patriot,” he said. He shares our government’s deep concern for the people of Hong Kong. This is another example of General Secretary Xi Jinping breaking his word. He has now broken his 50-year promise of freedom for the people of Hong Kong. Now his national security law has stripped Hong Kong of the rule of law, which has led to His imprisonment, and he is only talking about the fundamental rights of the people of Hong Kong.”
Mr Pompeo also spoke of the US response to the Chinese crackdown in Hong Kong, saying: “We challenge that. We object to that. We welcome the United Nations and others to join us. I fear That Hong Kong will become another Communist city run by the Chinese [Communist Party]. It is too bad. This is inconsistent with Mr Xi’s promise, and this is again the fact that you simply cannot trust the Chinese Communist Party. You have to verify everything they [the communist party] claim.”
