U.S. President Donald Trump announced in a blockbuster tweet Thursday that Attorney General William Barr will leave his post on Dec. 23.
U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Monday in a blockbuster tweet that Attorney General William Barr will leave his post on December 23. The news that Donald Trump has replaced his attorney general has sparked public concern. Barr caused a public uproar earlier this month when his public statements about election fraud prompted calls for President Donald Trump to fire barr.
Justice Minister Barr is leaving
At around 6 p.m. Edt on December 14, President Donald Trump tweeted that Attorney General Barr was leaving his post. “Just had a very nice meeting with Attorney General Barr at the White House. We’ve always had a great relationship and he’s done a great job in the past! According to the letter [barr’s resignation], Barr will leave before Christmas to spend time with his family.”
At the same time, Trump said, “Deputy Attorney General Jeff Rosen is also an outstanding person and will be acting Attorney general. Richard Donoghue, who is highly respected, will take over as deputy attorney general. Thank you!”
“I appreciate the opportunity this afternoon to update you (the President) on the Justice Department’s latest review of voter fraud allegations in the 2020 election and how the Justice Department is continuing to pursue these allegations,” Trump wrote in a resignation letter sent to him by Barr, which was attached to a tweet.
“At a time when the country is so deeply divided, governments at all levels — all institutions acting within their purview — have a responsibility to do everything they can to ensure the integrity of elections and promote public confidence in the results,” Mr. Barr said.
He also said in the letter that President Trump’s record in office is the most historic because he has achieved it in the face of relentless and hostile resistance.
“You [Trump] reached out to your opponent in your 2016 victory speech and called for working together for the good of The American people, and you were immediately attacked by a partisan onslaught — attacks that were disjointed, full of insults and deception — that were completely out of line. If you don’t sort them out in time, the direction of this Russia-Gate movement is a mad and groundless effort to tear your government apart.” Barr said.
Mr. Barr’s claim that the election was free of fraud has raised questions
Barr’s departure had been heralded earlier. “So far, we have not seen massive fraud that could affect the outcome of the election,” Barr said in an interview, according to a December 1 Ap report.
“With all due respect, it appears that the Justice Department is not conducting any investigation,” trump’s lawyer team said in a statement.
“We have collected substantial evidence of illegal voting in at least six states, but they have not yet reviewed the evidence,” the statement said. We have many witnesses who have testified under oath that they have seen criminal acts related to election fraud. As far as we know, none of them have been questioned by the Justice Department. The Justice Department did not audit any voting machines, nor did it use subpoena power to determine the truth.”
Trump campaign counsel Lynn Wood tweeted on December 1 that it was “time to fire Barr.”
“Lying about the Dominion problem. Nothing will be done about Epstein’s, Durham’s, Hunter Biden’s or Weiner’s laptop. The electoral fraud case is now being ignored.” “We need patriots to help President Trump if we’re going to save our country and our freedom,” Wood said.
Under pressure from the public, the Justice Department issued an urgent statement that night, denying that Barr had made any comments, citing false media reports, and saying it would continue to pursue election fraud charges.
In fact, Barr has been almost silent on election fraud since polling day on November 3rd, and the Justice Department has made no substantive investigations into allegations of fraud. The American public is angry about the inaction of Barr and the Justice Department.
Trump Criticizes Barr for ‘not trying hard enough’
Speaking to reporters at the White House December 3, Trump said it was disappointing that Barr and the Justice Department were “not doing too much” to investigate allegations of election fraud. “He hasn’t done anything yet,” Trump said.
Trump has pointed out that there is a lot of evidence of voter fraud, and if Barr pays attention, he will see the evidence he saw at the Georgia voter fraud hearing.
Asked if he was still supporting Barr, Trump did not elaborate on barr’s position, saying, “Ask me in a few weeks.”
“They (the Justice Department) should investigate all of this fraud,” Trump said. This is not civil, this is criminal, this is a very serious criminal case.”
Subsequently, a number of U.S. media on December 6 reported that Barr himself considered resigning.
Trump: Justice Department ‘missing’
This is not the first time Trump has criticized Barr for not doing enough to investigate election fraud. In an interview with Fox Business on November 29, Trump publicly criticized the Justice Department and FBI as “missing” in the election fraud investigation.
Trump said that since Election Day (November 3), neither the Justice Department nor the FBI “has seen any information about fraud or wrongdoing.”
“Lost in action. I can’t tell you how far they went.” “Every week they say they are investigating, but that’s it,” Trump said.
“This is total fraud. How the FBI and the Department of Justice are involved — I don’t know, maybe they’re involved — but how people are allowed to escape responsibility, it’s incredible. The election was rigged. This election is a complete fraud.” Trump said.
“What they’re doing is like we have no proof. We have evidence everywhere.” “The president said, pointing to hundreds of sworn testimony by those who accuse him of wrongdoing or fraud.
Sidney Powell, a prominent lawyer, said in an interview with Fox News on November 30 that the Justice Department and THE FBI had serious corruption problems. “Frankly, I think the entire FBI and the entire Department of Justice need to be flushed with disinfectant,” Powell said.
The departure of Attorney General Barr is likely a prelude to the appointment of an independent counsel by President Donald Trump to investigate election fraud, according to current affairs commentator Wen Zhao.
