Apple responds to iPhone 12’s sharp drop in 5G range as it opens up

Recently, veteran hardware website Tom\’s Guide conducted a horizontal endurance comparison test for the iPhone 12 and other 5G phones. It’s also at the bottom of the scale when compared to the Samsung Galaxy S20 and the One Plus 8T.

To this, Apple executives gave a positive response. Kaiann Drance, Apple’s vice president of iPhone marketing, was a guest on Rich DeMuro’s podcast event and said that the company has made various software optimizations to ensure the level of battery life, such as the Smart Data feature, which switches to 5G only when throughput is high and limits to 4G LTE to ensure battery life in general.

Next, Apple will need to work with carriers to do more optimizations.
