In defiance of the threat of the National Security law, the Hong Kong Branch Association elected a new leadership vowing to stick to the original intention

Under the threat of the suppression of the “Hong Kong version of the National Security Law”, the Hong Kong Citizens Support Patriotic Democratic Movement, or “Hong Kong Citizens Support Patriotic Democratic Movement”, founded in support of China’s 1989 Tiananmen Square democracy Movement, held its 32nd annual conference on the evening of December 13, electing a new standing committee, chairman, vice-chairman and other key leaders. Lee Cheuk-yan, a former legislator who was re-elected as president, said that given the increased risk of being the next member of the standing Committee of the National Security Law, the number of standing members was reduced in case of any future accidents.

In a press release released on Sunday night, the CHOc announced that president Lee Cheuk-yan, vice President and former Legislative Councillor Albert Ho Chun-yan and Lawyer Raymond Chow Shin-tong, as well as secretary Choi Yiu-cheong, were up for re-election. In addition, it decided to reduce the number of members of the new Standing Committee from 20 to 15, with 14 actually standing for election.

According to Hong Kong media, some former members of the Standing Committee, including Cheung Man-kwong, a veteran of the Democratic Party, Yoon Siu-kin of the Civic Party, leung Yiu-chung, a member of the Hong Kong Community and Labour Comprehensive Service Organization, and The Reverend Chu Yiu-ming, who was involved in the rescue of the Bird on June 4, are not in the running for re-election.

In addition to streamlining the structure of the standing Committee, lee said, the reduction is also a precaution to ensure that if problems arise in the committee, someone else can step forward to take on the standing Committee work. Another member of the Standing Committee made it clear that there was a replacement in case of an unforeseen crackdown.

Li stressed that this year is the biggest challenge faced by the BRANCH in its more than 30 years of existence. Now the red line in the 23 National Security legislation of the Basic Law has become the red line in the national security law. He said that he did not know when the red line would spread to the branch. He said that as a member of the STANDING Committee of the BRANCH, one should be psychologically prepared to undertake the task.

Li zhuoren also said that the “human rights” of historical materials have been transferred to foreign countries for preservation.

The rally’s press release said the 2020 Victoria Park candlelight vigil was the most difficult in 31 years and that the police had banned all rallies because of the outbreak. The BRANCH association insisted on mourning the June 4, called on the public everywhere to light the candle and participate in the online rally of the branch Association, the Standing Committee of the branch association as before entered Victoria Park to light the candle.

However, shortly after June 4, 26 people, including 11 members of the STANDING Committee of the BRANCH association, were prosecuted under the Public Security Ordinance, 13 were charged with incitement, one of Lee Cheuk-yan was charged with organizing and 25 of them were charged with participating in unauthorized assembly.

Abuse of control and detention has become the norm in Hong Kong and is a tactic of fear to govern Hong Kong, the association said. The CHC will not be afraid of suppression and will regain the right of assembly of Hong Kong people through protest.

The press release stressed that the survival of the Hong Kong Version of the National Security Law was of great concern after its implementation. The LOYA Jirga will insist on telling the truth, continue to adhere to the five programs under the power, never retreat, never give up, and fight to the end. In addition to the physical “June 4 Memorial”, an online “June 4 Memory · Human Rights Museum” will be organized to uphold historical truth and protect memory.

For decades, the ASSOCIATION has been consistently hosting the world’s largest Candlelight vigil, with tens of thousands of Hong Kong people attending every year. It has also been actively supporting and sympathizing with democracy, dissent and rights activists on the Chinese mainland, and organizing protests against the activities of the Central Government in Hong Kong.

The five major programs of the SPLA are “release pro-democracy activists, rehabilitate the communist Party, hold tu Cheng accountable, end one-party dictatorship, and build a democratic China”. It is expected that the authorities may use the “Hong Kong version of the national Security Law” to suppress the association.

Beijing’s crackdown on Hong Kong’s pan-citizens continued after all pro-democracy legislators recently resigned in protest at the disqualification of four pro-democracy legislators from the National People’s Congress.

Associate professor of law school of Beijing university of aeronautics and astronautics field dragon, director of China society of Hong Kong and Macao, said on November 16, the Hong Kong alliance is “color revolution and western democracy a part of the global agenda”, funded by overseas organizations and the external anti-china forces, for a long time five program reflects the Hong Kong alliance is a “political subversive organization”, in the name, “patriotic democracy” colluding with external forces based in Hong Kong “color revolution”, involving breach of security law in Hong Kong.

On the second day, Chairman Lee Cheuk-yan stressed that the ASSOCIATION adheres to the “Five Principles” and strives for democracy and innocence, never giving up or retreating. “What the CHC has done for 30 years has been done by peaceful means and there has never been a problem,” Mr. Lee said. “If there is a problem now,” he said, “it is not the CHC that changes, it is Hong Kong that changes.”

Lee cheuk-yan reiterated that the rally would continue on June 4 next year, and the Victoria Park venue had been booked, and the direction of the BRANCH would not be changed due to the implementation of the National Security law. In response to Tian feilong’s accusation that the league wanted to grab the historical right to speak by organizing the online “June 4 Memory · Human Rights Museum”, Li Zhuoren responded that the league wanted to “fight the lies with the truth”.

The National Council for Hong Kong and Macao Studies, a think-tank under the Hong Kong and Macao Office of The State Council, often represents the Hong Kong and Macao office. As a result, observers say the league is likely to be the next target of the Communist Party and the Government.

After the implementation of the “Hong Kong Version of the National Security Law” on June 30, the risk of commemorating the June 4 event has become a suspense. Whether the voice of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the Communist Party of China through Tian Fei Long implies that the branch association may also become an illegal organization and be suppressed, and whether the June 4 Party will continue to exist or not is the focus of the outside world.
