Republican U.S. Rep. Ken Buck sent a letter to Attorney General William Barr urging him to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the overseas business dealings of Hunter, son of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, and “potentially incriminating evidence” found on a laptop computer allegedly belonging to Hunter.
“This investigation is critical to safeguarding the integrity of the United States and ensuring that a potential Biden administration is not the target of inappropriate foreign interference,” Buck, a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, said in a Dec. 7 letter to Barr.
Americans, Barker wrote, have a right to know whether Mr. Biden’s relationships with foreign governments could make him the target of blackmail or other nefarious acts that could jeopardize U.S. national security or improperly influence U.S. foreign policy.
Before the U.S. election, the New York Post was the first to break the Biden and Son scandal, but it was suppressed by social media. The New York Post exposed several Hunt emails, one of which concerned a Chinese company’s business arrangement with a member of the Biden family. Tony Bobulinski, one of the recipients of the emails and a former business partner of Hunter Biden, has confirmed that the emails are authentic and has provided additional information that further exposes the Biden family’s role in the deal.
“As with the Justice Department’s appointment of Special Prosecutor Robert S. Mueller III, it is critical that this investigation continue to be free of political interference, regardless of who is in charge of the White House,” said Barker. “We must ensure that the integrity of government and the United States’ Security.”
“Therefore, I urge the Department of Justice to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Hunter Biden’s actions and the possible incriminating contents of his laptop to ensure that this important investigation will be completed.” He added.
Bobrinsky, Hunter’s former business partner, said at a news conference last month that he had met with Joe Biden in May 2017 and spent an hour discussing a range of issues, including a deal with a Chinese energy group.
Biden had previously said he had never discussed his son’s overseas business dealings. For his part, Bobrinsky said that Biden was not telling the truth.
He added, “The Biden family (members) have actively used the Biden family name to make millions of dollars from foreign entities, some of which are from Communist-controlled China.”
