U.S. lawmakers propose resolution condemning lawmakers who demand concessions from Trump

Rep. Alex Mooney (D-N.Y.) introduced a resolution Tuesday (Dec. 8) calling on Republican lawmakers to support President Donald Trump’s election fraud investigation and legal battle, and formally condemning any member of Congress who asks Trump to concede “prematurely” in the general election.

Politico reports that Rep. Mooney, a member of the House Freedom Caucus, introduced the resolution during a private GOP conference call.

“In the House Republican Conference, I call on my colleagues to join me in sending a strong, unified message of support for President Trump (@realDonaldTrump),” Mooney tweeted.

He also attached a press release about his introduction of the resolution.

“Until these investigations are complete, no Republican member of Congress should prematurely call on President Trump to recognize (the election results),” Mooney wrote.

According to Mooney, the resolution calls on House Republicans to support counting every legal vote in the 2020 presidential election and to punish “voter fraud”. In the resolution, Mooney also calls on House Republican members not to prematurely call on Trump to recognize the election results before these investigations are completed.

The U.S. 2020 presidential election has been marred by allegations of fraud, and the Trump team has filed lawsuits in a number of swing states. The Epoch Times will not declare a winner until all legal challenges regarding the U.S. election are resolved.

In response to a question from CNN, Rep. Jim Jordan categorically rejected the notion that Trump should concede. When asked if Trump should concede once the electoral college votes are cast on Dec. 14, Jordan said, “No, definitely not (to concede), definitely not, definitely not.”

“We should still try to figure out what happened here (in the election).” He said.

Republican Sen. Ron Johnson also flatly refused when asked if he wanted to congratulate Biden. No, he said, because there was “nothing” to congratulate him on.

Republican Senator Mike Braun appeared on ABC’s “This Week” with George Stephanopoulos last Sunday, explaining to the hosts that there is still a lot of potential voter fraud in major states. The behavior needs to be analyzed. They should continue to work on these cases as it has the potential to contaminate future elections.

According to a recent survey by the Washington Post, a majority of Republican members of Congress do not recognize Biden’s election. The Washington Post survey included 249 Republican members of Congress in both chambers, and 222 of those Republicans do not recognize Biden’s election. Nearly 90% of Republican members of Congress would not indicate who the winner of the election is.

Meanwhile, GOP Rep. Paul Gosar of Arizona and GOP Rep. Mo Brooks of Alabama have publicly insisted that Trump won the election.

Trump took part in a massive rally in Georgia last Saturday (December 5), where he said of election fraud, “It is America’s destiny to drain the Washington swamp and save our country! We will fight to the end, we will never give up, we will never retreat, we will never compromise, and we will never, ever surrender, because the red, white and blue (American flag colors) flow in our hearts, and we are Americans!”

On December 2, Trump gave his “most important” speech at the White House. At the end of his speech, he said, “If we don’t root out the fraud, the massive and horrific fraud that occurred in the 2020 election, we will lose America forever. With the determination and support of the American people, we will restore the integrity and fairness of our elections, and we will restore the public’s trust in our system of government.”
