Argentine Congressman Proposes Printing Maradona on Banknotes: “Hand of God” May Be Elected

In the Argentine Congress, Senator Norma Durango proposed that the image of the late soccer star Diego Maradona be printed on banknotes, with his portrait on one side and possibly the classic “Hand of God” on the other.

According to Reuters, Durango proposed that the government issue a 1,000 peso banknote with Maradona’s image on it, and his classic goals “Hand of God” and “five men in a row” could be alternatives, but some Argentines think that “Hand of God” on the official currency would have a negative impact.

According to Durango, the final decision will be left to the congressmen, “This proposal is not only a tribute to an important icon, but also an economic one, and tourists who come to Argentina should want to take the ‘Maradona’ with them in this way.
