U.S. President Donald Trump announced today that Israel and Bahrain have reached a “peace agreement,” becoming the second Arab country in just a few weeks to suspend hostile relations with Israel.
AFP reports that Trump tweeted, “Another historic breakthrough reached today! Our two great allies, Israel and the Kingdom of Bahrain, agreed to a peace agreement, the 2nd Arab country to nod its head and live in peace with Israel in 30 days!”

Bahrain has agreed to formally sign the peace agreement with Israel in a ceremony at the White House on August 15, where the United Arab Emirates will also sign the peace agreement it agreed to in mid-August.
According to the statement, the historic breakthrough was announced after talks between Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Donald Trump.
Until now, Israel has reached similar peace agreements with two Arab countries, with Egypt in 1979 and with Jordan in 1994.
