Chinese Communist Party’s “Heavy Price”: No Chinese Citizens to Travel to Czech Republic

After the visit of Czech Senate President Vetteri to Taiwan, an order from China for the famous Czech piano manufacturer Petrarchov was cancelled. China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism (MCT) issued another notice on September 11, warning Chinese citizens not to travel to the Czech Republic due to the rapid rebound of the epidemic in the country.

China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism made the announcement via public WeChat. According to Taiwan’s Central News Agency, Vitezzi’s recent visit to Taiwan with nearly 90 people in tow prompted Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to publicly threaten to make him pay a heavy price. Immediately after his visit to Taiwan, an order from China for a well-known Czech piano manufacturer, Petrof, was cancelled under pressure from the authorities.

Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Song Tao, in a videoconference with Vojtech Filip, chairman of the Czech Communist Party and first deputy speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, expressed his hope that the mainstream Czechs would “draw a clear line” with the president of the Czech Senate, who led the delegation to Taiwan, and others.
