CCP downgrades in response to G7 statement War Wolf declines

On June 13, the communiqué of the G7 leaders’ summit unsurprisingly openly targeted the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), including the investigation of the origin of the CCP virus (Wuhan virus and New Crown virus), the CCP’s persecution of human rights, Hong Kong’s autonomy, Taiwan Strait and Indo-Pacific security, and the need to counteract the CCP’s “One Belt, One Road” and other economic and trade issues. As EU Council President Charles Michel said, “Liberal democracies and open societies are under pressure from authoritarian regimes.”

It should come as no surprise that the top brass of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has deliberately adopted a low-key, downgraded response, with only the CCP embassy in the UK speaking out, expressing its “strong dissatisfaction and resolute opposition”, continuing to deny the facts, and once again calling the G7+4+EU a “small circle” and claiming to be “principled”. The Chinese embassy in the UK only expressed its “strong dissatisfaction and resolute opposition” and continued to deny the facts. However, the Communist Party’s top brass actually had to step back from the so-called “bottom line”.

On June 14, the Dragon Boat Festival, the Chinese Foreign Ministry did not arrange a press conference, and the statement from the Chinese Embassy in the UK was obviously too low level. The CPC media should have acted as the Foreign Ministry at this time, speaking out on behalf of the CCP’s top brass; however, Xinhua News Agency, People’s Daily and the CCP’s military website did not reproduce the statement of the CCP embassy in the UK, and only Global Times copied the statement.

On June 14, Xinhua first reported, “G7 “not united in face and heart” under the appearance of “unity””, and later reported, “G7 summit “not up to standard” according to many media and figures”. “. These two articles still attempt to divide Western countries and indirectly belittle the role of the G7 summit, but throughout, they do not openly and positively speak for the Chinese Communist Party’s top brass. The People’s Daily and the CCP’s military website simply have no coverage of the G7 summit.

The CCP’s top brass has changed its previous practice of responding to the high-profile war wolves, presumably trying to minimize the negative impact and keep more Chinese people in the dark on the one hand; on the other hand, they are probably caught in a dilemma, fearing that a high-profile response will lead to further stalemate. The Chinese Communist Party knows that it is not facing a “small circle”, the external power contrast is huge, and the internal questioning continues, so the top level of the Communist Party has to be soft for the time being.

Perhaps the CCP wants to observe the progress of the NATO summit and the U.S.-Russia summit before assessing how to respond; however, this softening should be a rare scene compared to the continued high profile and toughness of the past few months. The Chinese Communist Party’s top brass will not easily concede, much less admit their mistakes, and this retreat may only be temporary. In any case, the top echelon of the CCP has tasted the bigger bitter fruit of provocation against the US and retaliatory sanctions against the EU, and there is indeed no more bottom to play the war wolf again.

In order to cover the ears, Xinhua News Agency continues to vigorously report on Xi Jinping and the Dragon Boat Festival, the Hubei Shiyan gas explosion, etc. It also issued an unprecedented four consecutive reports on the epidemic in Guangdong, including “National Health Commission: 23 new confirmed cases of new crown pneumonia on the 13th, including 4 local cases”, “4 new confirmed local cases on the 13th in Guangdong, all reported in Guangzhou”, “11 areas in Guangzhou lifted the closure and control management Measures”, “Guangzhou decided to postpone the midterm examination to July”.

It is rare for Xinhua News Agency to present so much negative news about the epidemic in one go, indicating that the CCP is so eager to cover up the bad effects of the G7 statement that it has changed its twisted way of reporting the epidemic. At the same time, Xinhua News Agency also reported in a rare way that “strong rainfall in the Yellow River and Huaihuai reaches its peak this evening and the high temperature in the north temporarily “retires””, but reported more on the weather conditions and continued to ignore the risk of floods. The People’s Daily had nothing else to report, but to rehash the old news about the Three Stars Pile.

In contrast, the Global Times, a second-tier party media, also tried to pull in the pinkos by not only reprinting a statement from the Chinese embassy in the UK, but also publishing an article “G7 communiqué builds momentum, but Chinese don’t eat this”, revealing that “the G7 leaders’ communiqué publicly named China and mentioned Xinjiang, Hong Kong and Taiwan issues”. “Oppose forced labor” and “oppose unilateral changes to the status quo in the East and South China Seas ……”. The article said that “this is the most systematic accusation of the West” of the Chinese Communist Party of a summit, and said that “no longer need to have illusions about the United States, but must treat other countries differently from the United States”, the Chinese Communist Party “must be more capable of winning to the end The Chinese Communist Party “must be more capable of winning in the end”, “time will drag down the United States”, “no need to push it, trip it, the United States itself will fall”.

The article in the Global Times should not be too credulous, and more or less speaks for the top echelon of the CCP. The current low-profile response of the CCP’s top brass should try to avoid further deadlock with European countries, and can only tolerate it for the time being; the next step is likely to be prepared to target the US more, and it is certainly not willing to admit its mistakes on the surface. However, the argument of relying on “time” to wait for the U.S. to “fall” reveals the CCP’s helplessness. The CCP has long run out of solutions for the outside world, and the diplomacy of war wolves is just a froth that is extremely lacking in strength.

The Global Times also tries to comment on the NATO summit and continue to comfort the Chinese Communist Party’s top brass by deliberately distorting the report “Foreign media: NATO secretary general says no “new cold war” with China”. Such a headline actually reveals the extreme weakness within the Chinese Communist Party.

On June 14, Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense reported that a Chinese transport-8 anti-submarine aircraft had again harassed Taiwan’s air defense identification zone, breaking 10 days of calm. Since June 4, the CCP has not deployed military aircraft in the Taiwan Strait for 10 days, which should be considered as some kind of gesture in response to the G7 summit, seeing that there is little point in going back to the pattern of constant provocations. I guess the CCP has seen that the NATO summit is likely to continue in a similar wind direction, and it is no longer deceptive to pretend to stop provocations for the time being.

If the leaders attending the G7+ summit had known the reaction of the CCP top brass, they would probably have looked at each other and laughed, and the fake tiger would have revealed its real face. The embarrassment at the top of the CCP will have to continue, and the NATO summit will be followed by the US-Russia summit, neither of which will be good news for the CCP.
