Succeeding Xie Feng, Liu Guangyuan became the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Communist Party of China in Hong Kong

According to official media reports, the Communist Party of China (CPC) has appointed Liu Guangyuan, formerly the ambassador to Poland, as the special commissioner of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (OCMFA), and removed Xie Feng from his post as the special commissioner of the OCMFA in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

According to public information, Liu Guangyuan has been the CCP’s ambassador to Poland since 2018.

Prior to that, he served as minister at the U.S. Embassy, ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Republic of Kenya, permanent representative to the United Nations Environment Program, permanent representative to the United Nations Human Settlements Program, and director of the Foreign Ministry’s Department of Foreign-related Security Affairs.
