As New York City’s economy reboots after the epidemic, people expect national and international visitors to return to the city, and here’s good news for them: Summit One Vanderbilt, located between 42nd and 43rd Streets in Manhattan’s Grand Central Station, will open its doors on October 21. The Summit One Vanderbilt will be open to the public on October 21.
At that time, visitors can take an all-glass elevator on the exterior of the building, “flying” more than 400 meters above the ground to overlook Manhattan and the entire New York City; the total height of the building is 1,400 feet, the second tallest building in New York City after the World Trade Center.
According to developer SL Green in a mid-May release, One Vanderbilt Penthouse features 65,000 square feet of what it calls “the world’s tallest urban outdoor alpine meadow” of pedestrian-friendly space, including an outdoor summit observation deck, the highest in Midtown Manhattan at 1,210 feet above ground, and a soaring bar and restaurant.
“Ground was broken in October 2016 on the five-year, $33 billion One Vanderbilt, a 77-story, 1.7 million square foot office tower. With its direct downstairs connection to Grand Central Terminal, its completion and opening will change the way Grand Central Terminal has been perceived and experienced.
“We have created a destination that will provide an interactive experience of a lifetime, where people can see all of New York City.” Marc Holliday, CEO of SL Green Group and chairman of the board, said in a statement, “One must experience the ‘One Vanderbilt Penthouse’ for themselves to understand its breathtaking magic, worthy of being visited by New Yorkers, Americans and international visitors visit again and again.”
Tickets for the attraction are now available to the public, and visitors who want to see it can reserve their tickets at summitOV.com.
