Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today accused the militant group Hamas of firing rockets at Israel, provoking nearly a week of fighting, and said Israel would continue to attack Gaza for as long as needed and do its best to avoid civilian casualties.
In a televised speech, Benjamin Netanyahu said, “The blame for this conflict does not lie with us, but with those who attacked us,” Reuters reported. We are still in the middle of a military operation, the fighting is still not over, and the military operation will continue for as long as it takes.”
Nitanyahu added, “Unlike Hamas, which hides behind civilians and deliberately harms them, we are doing everything we can to avoid or minimize harm to civilians and are committed to fighting the terrorists directly.”
