On May 16, the land media reported that strong convective weather such as high winds, hailstorms and heavy rains occurred in many places in Hunan Province. In the Dongting Lake area, winds of 8 or more were common, with Yueyang County’s Zhongzhou, Matang, Xinkai, and Chengkou towns reaching EF1 tornado magnitude (12) on the night of May 15, with houses collapsing or breaking, agricultural sheds being damaged, and trees breaking in some areas.
Guizhou Provincial Meteorological Station on the 15th continued to issue thunderstorms, hail, high winds and heavy rain forecasts, and said that since May up to the 15th, Guizhou has been 13 consecutive days of hail, a rare historical period.
In addition, at 16:00 on May 15, due to continuous rainfall, a brick wall collapsed at 213KM+700M in Tanjiaping Village, Jiayukou Convenience Service Center, Jia County, Shaanxi Province, burying a small car passing by and trapping six people inside the car, after which three people were rescued and three others died after rescue.
