Please take care of our country

On the lawn of Harbor Lawn Mount Olive Memorial Park, where fallen soldiers are buried, veterans stand in the middle of the canal waiting for the event to begin, with the names of fallen soldiers etched on both sides of the canal floor. Wayne Scott, a U.S. Air Force colonel who served for 29 years and is attending the event for the first time, said, “Memorial Day is to recognize those who lost their lives serving the United States and their families (Gold Star Families), and we will place flags and lay wreaths in the order of the creation of the military.”

Wreaths are laid on Memorial Day for soldiers who have died in all branches of service and in all wars.

The U.S. military, in order of creation, is the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Air Force, and the newly created Space Force.

Major General William J. Mall, formerly of the U.S. Air Force, said in his address, “Let us be thankful for every day of our lives, that we are blessed to have survived, and that some have left this world in a matter of seconds to defend our freedom; please honor and remember the brave men and women who have given their lives for our country. men and women who gave their lives for our country, and I pray that one day I will see them again in heaven or on the Golden Path of the New World.”

Major General Mahler told the Scouts, “Please take care of our country, as Jack Hammett, the council’s founder, often said. I’m going to say it to you again today: you are the future of our country, please take care of our country!”

Life is the greatest gift we can give

In her speech, Liz Marie Simpson, a representative of the Gold Star Home who lost two loved ones, said, “John McCrae, a Canadian physician who served in the British Expeditionary Force in World War I, wrote the short poem ‘Flanders Fields’ in 1915. ), fields where poppies open between rows of crosses… and life is the greatest gift we can give.”

Ms. Simpson, a representative of the Gold Star House, speaking at the 67th Memorial Day at Olive Memorial Park in Harbor Lawn Hills, Orange County.

“In 1940, artillery officer Archibald MacLeish, whose brother was killed in the war, wrote the poem ‘The Young Dead Soldiers Do Not Speak’: We live and die for peace and new hope, we cannot speak up, this is what you must say.”

Simpson also mentioned that U.S. Army Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster referred to American soldiers as warriors and humanitarians because they fight all enemies that threaten the civilized world.

In words written to her fallen baby son on Memorial Day 2006, Simpson said, “You made me a mom and life is so beautiful. I give you back to God and you depart for glory.”

Ronnie Guyer, a veteran of the Vietnam War, is a happy man. When the Communists invaded South Vietnam under North Vietnam, we fought for freedom and justice,” he said. I’ve been doing what I can to help with keynote speeches. People should look at the love and preservation of freedom by those of Vietnamese descent. They fled the Viet Cong to come to America, and now we are in danger of losing our freedom.”

Scott said, “America faces great challenges, and people are very divided politically right now. But I think most Americans are still holding on to freedom and traditional values, and that’s defending the interests of the United States. Internationally the Chinese Communist Party wants to be the dominant nation or dominant force in the world, but we will fight for the freedoms and democracy that we hold dear.”

Some people don’t want their children to know the true history, Scott said, “The motto of the Liberty Committee is to pass the torch of freedom to future generations and to make sure that young people understand the history of America and are willing to defend our freedoms. Our ancestors did that, and we need to work toward that in every generation.”
