These flowers are beautiful and very attractive in appearance, but it is one of the most poisonous plants in the U.S. and Canada – big hogweed, which can cause allergies, burns and even blindness if human skin is accidentally touched.

Recently, one of the most poisonous plants in Canada – Giant hogweed (Giant hogweed) has begun to bloom one after another, and can be found in courtyards, roadsides, ditches and riverbanks, because it likes moist soil and is more common along riverbanks. Human skin can cause allergies, burns and even blindness if accidentally touched.

The stems and leaves are very stout and hollow, with red or purple spots on the stem, especially on the lower part, and can grow up to 6 meters in height and 30 centimeters in width. It looks beautiful and is very attractive. But do not go near it.

Once the skin comes into contact with the clear poisonous sap on the big hogweed, an allergic reaction will occur after exposure to the sun, causing skin diagnosis, blistering, ulceration, burning pain. If the sap accidentally gets into the eyes, it can even cause blindness.

Health Canada warns that if you accidentally come into contact with the sap, wash the affected area immediately and thoroughly with soap and water, and avoid exposure to sunlight for 48 hours afterwards. If burn symptoms have appeared, seek immediate medical attention.
