The CDC recommended on May 12th that the Pfizer vaccine be used for children over the age of 12. Then, the head of the second-largest teachers’ union in the U.S., on May 13, made a strong call for schools to open fully, hoping that all public schools would be open five days a week this fall.
The president of the American Federation of Teachers, “Weingarten,” said that schools can safely reopen in the midst of a plague pandemic and that students must return to school to learn. She believes that prolonged isolation is harmful to students. The American Federation of Teachers is fully committed to preparing for the full opening of schools in the fall.
