“The Copenhagen Democracy Summit 2021 was held on Monday and Tuesday (10 and 11), two days in a row. Both Tsai Ing-wen and exiled Hong Kong pro-democracy activist Law Kwun-chung were scheduled to speak via video on the first day of the conference.

In her speech, Tsai noted that the world is alerted to the dangers of authoritarian regimes, which are trying to divide and corrupt democracy in order to expand their influence. Taiwan will not remain silent about this.

Taiwan’s ambassador to Germany, Hsieh Chih-Wei, told the station that Taiwan’s successful experience in fighting the epidemic has become a good model for the democratic world, and that Taiwan’s insistence on democracy and freedom has integrated its Taiwan into the world’s mainstream value system.

President Tsai Ing-wen is using a very smooth insistence, corresponding to China’s civil and military attack on Taiwan, and we clearly express our insistence on democracy and freedom, converging with the whole world trend,” Xie said.

The Chinese Embassy in Denmark issued a statement on its official website, saying that the democracy summit is a “political farce” and accusing the conference of inviting “Taiwan independence leaders” and “Hong Kong independence activists” to participate in the conference. He accused the conference of violating “one China” and interfering in “China’s internal affairs” by inviting “Taiwan independence leaders” and “Hong Kong independence activists” to the conference.

Xie Zhiwei said: the Chinese Communist authorities’ reaction to this matter can only be described by four words, called “furious”, the whole world situation makes China jump, they gradually break through China in the past few years, in the posture of war wolves in the economy, in politics, in diplomacy, not only the threat posed by Taiwan, it is actually also a threat to the whole world A threat that goes too far will result in a backlash. The Chinese dictatorship has neither the mechanism nor the ability to reflect on the situation. This conflict will intensify.

In response to the summit in question, Chinese Communist Party Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said Tuesday (11) that the affairs of Taiwan and Hong Kong are purely internal affairs of China, and no foreign government organization or individual has the right to interfere. All parties are urged to respect China’s sovereignty and not to send any wrong signals to the ‘Taiwan independence’ and ‘Hong Kong independence’ forces. I hope that European politicians will truly speak about democracy and work more for the happiness and security of their people.

The Chinese embassy’s response was all the stronger after a visit to Denmark last year with Hong Kong pro-democracy activists to urge local politicians to impose sanctions on China over human rights issues, according to former Hong Kong House member Wong Yik-mu, who was interviewed by this station, the summit was an exchange of ideas to address China’s external threats and find a joint response.

Huang Yimu said: “Copenhagen Democracy Summit” is a very important summit, invited the world’s important political figures, especially in the current situation of Hong Kong Xinjiang. In addition to the democratic values of Hong Kong and Taiwan are threatened by China, in fact, in Europe is also under great threat from China, basically all over the world, everyone’s relationship with China is getting worse and worse, I also believe that the West will become more and more tough on China. I don’t know why Chinese ambassadors are now using this war-wolf diplomacy everywhere, they still think it is feasible, they are making enemies!

In her speech at the conference, Tsai said that authoritarian states are using the new crown epidemic to seek to change the rules-based global order, and that some regimes are trying to manipulate countries through pipelines to vital resources, so it is important that democracies work together to protect supply chain security and defend the global economic order.

Stressing that no foreign aggression or epidemic challenge can threaten the resilience of democracy, Tsai called on democracies around the world to remain vigilant and united, and that Taiwan will continue to do its part, and that it will never give up these freedoms.

In his speech, Mr. Lo elaborated on the struggle of Hong Kong people against the Chinese Communist Party and the need for attention and support from democratic countries.
