An 88-year-old grandmother living in Colorado, USA, recently expressed her patriotic passion with a paintbrush. After creating an oil painting of a portrait of the 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump (Trump), she said, “I am a patriot!”
Florence Delaney, 88, who is as passionate about art as she is about politics, recently painted an oil painting of a portrait of Trump. Delaney’s painting of Trump, with a resolute and bold demeanor, is a lifelike and collectible oil painting.
It is reported that DeLaney usually likes to create portraits for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren with watercolor paintings. She said that the creation of this work showing Trump expresses her love for the country.
Florence Delaney, an 88-year-old patriotic painter.
Delaney said her love for Trump began during his first campaign. She said that as soon as she heard Trump speak, he fell in love with him.
She said, “President Trump’s words resonated in my heart and gave me hope in President Trump for the recovery of America …… His love for our country is really evident.”
She added, “Trump’s message is the opposite of what many elected officials are doing. They promise to protect and make America stronger, but never deliver on their promises.” She argued that Trump’s policies have created a “strong, thriving America” because Trump has put the needs of his people ahead of foreigners.
Delaney said, “So I decided to paint a portrait of President Trump to represent this great leader for America.”
Soon after, she began her research. She began by taking hundreds of photos of Trump from television and also at two of his rallies in Colorado, trying to remember “his demeanor, his style and capture his true personality.
Delaney also studied other official White House portraits, including those of past presidents. She also studied the official Trump portraits in Colorado. She then chose an archival-size 20×24-inch Belgian canvas and painted it in oil.
She said she had a “wonderful wish”: that one day, accompanied by her five children, she would be able to show the painting to Trump and Melania.
Born in the Depression era and raised on a farm in North Dakota, DeLaney grew up with a strong sense of patriotism. I worked on the farm from a very young age,” she says. From sunup to dusk, I followed my parents and my eight siblings as they planted wheat and raised livestock.” Formally, during those challenging years, she developed a strong work ethic and maintained an unwavering commitment to both family and country.
In her books, there are watercolors and oil paintings of mainly her children, grandchildren, bright flowers and landscapes. And these, she says, enlighten her imagination.
DeLaney’s paintings all use realistic techniques, and her delicate depiction of costumes is spot on. A cloth hat worn on her granddaughter’s head is brought to life – a beautiful lace inlay embellishes the warmth of the hat.
She says, “My daughter Mona (Mona) says that because I have so much detail in my paintings, it makes the ordinary subject extraordinary.”
Delaney has loved to paint since she was a child, but she stopped painting when she became a mother. Because at that time she needed to run her home in addition to her business, of which she was “proud”.
As her children grew up one by one and had their own lives, the loneliness of the empty nest led her back to painting. She started taking watercolor classes, and later learned oil painting as well. Then later, she was able to teach people to learn beginner watercolor painting. She modestly describes herself as an amateur painter, and she generally paints for pleasure and for the love of her family and friends.
