Reduce distance Google announces return of employees to office campus

Google announced that they will gradually revert the work pattern of employees from the current remote work to campus work. Employees will be required to work on campus at least a few days a week.

Google issued a statement on its blog that employees can apply for 100% remote work or switch offices, but pay may be reduced. google had said earlier that most employees could continue to work remotely until September, and the statement on the 6th did not change that decision.

Google CEO Pichai (Sundar Pichai) said in the statement: “For the past 20 years, employees have always solved interesting problems in the office. The campus has always been the heart of the Google community. Most employees also want to return to work on the campus.”

Pichet said there would be a mixed work pattern, with employees working on the campus up to three days a week and “wherever they want to work” on the other two days. He added that the time spent on the campus will focus on teamwork, with employees’ product and job titles instructing them when to come into the office. In the future, about 60 percent of employees will work on the campus several days a week, Pieters said.

Pitsche said the company’s workspace team has designed new office spaces, and one option being tested is “Camp Charleston. As you can see from the photos posted on the blog, Camp Charleston has wooden tables, brightly colored benches and lots of plants, and a tent-like, well-ventilated roof that resembles a luxury camping cabin, which will serve as a larger team work area.

In addition to transforming the campus office space, the workspace team is also working on advanced video collaboration tools to improve the efficiency of collaboration between campus employees and remote employees.

Pitsche also said that employees can apply to work 100 percent remotely or switch offices, subject to their ability to assist in reaching team and business goals. However, he said, “Whether you choose to switch offices or work 100 percent remotely, your salary will be adjusted based on your new location.” The company will have a number of “pure telecommuting sub-teams” in the future.

In addition, Pitzer announced a “work-from-anywhere weeks” program. With the approval of supervisors, employees will be able to spend up to one month per year without having to go into the office. “The purpose of the program is to give employees more flexibility to work during the summer and holiday travel.”

Pitsche did not mention when the changes would begin, but said he would provide employees with more information by the middle of next month.
