Yunnan Wenshan hit by hailstorm, city roads become “glacier”

At 2:00 pm on April 28, a sudden storm hit Wenshan City, Yunnan Province, with hailstones hitting the ground, which lasted for about 50 minutes. The streets instantly turned into “glacial rivers”, many places with more than a meter of water, cars were flooded. Rubber boats were used to rescue residents who were besieged by the icy water.

According to local media reports, on April 28, at 2:00 pm, hail suddenly fell in Wenshan, which was originally a sunny day, and lasted for about 40-50 minutes. Many roads were covered with hail, and also many roads turned into glacial rivers of floating hail. Low-lying areas in the center of Wenshan were heavily flooded with water.

Local residents reported, “The cars were all flooded, and the situation was most serious near the northwest side of Wenshan city.” “Noon 1:00 is still out of the big sun, suddenly the sky is dark, then hail, super ……”

The video released by netizens shows that after the hailstorm and heavy rain, many streets in Wenshan City became glacial rivers with nearly one meter of water and cars were flooded. Rubber boats traveled in the icy river in the streets to rescue the besieged people. There are also delivery boys riding motorcycles in waist-deep icy water struggling to move forward.
