Democrat Portland Mayor Disassociates Himself from ‘Anarchist Mob’, Asks for Public’s Help in ‘Finding’ Them

The Gateway Pundit reported Tuesday, April 27, that Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler sought public support over the weekend to “uncover” and identify members of the self-proclaimed “anarchist mob” that has been rioting since last summer and costing the city millions of dollars.

Wheeler goes after “anarchist thugs”

Mayor Wheeler supported moving millions of dollars away from Portland law enforcement last June, but reversed that decision in March to address the spike in shootings in Portland.

The Democratic mayor said on Friday that he supports Portland police using all “legal tactics” to deal with the riots, adding that the Black Lives Matter movement has come out to condemn the vandalism.

Mayor Wheeler said the drug seeks the city’s residents’ assistance in reporting to authorities friends and neighbors who “call themselves anarchist thugs” by reporting their license plate numbers or reporting evidence of riotous behavior.

Wheeler told Portland residents, “The city is starting to recover, but people who call themselves anarchists, who engage in regular criminal vandalism, don’t want to be unsealed, don’t want to go back to normal. They just want to smash and burn and they don’t want Portland to get better.”

A few hours after Mayor Wheeler’s speech, violence erupted again in Portland.

Businesses near George Floyd Plaza begin fundraising, say spike in crime kills business

Businesses in the George Floyd Plaza neighborhood, where Floyd was killed last year, say the neighborhood’s “crime rate is going up” and business is failing. Business owners have started a GoFundMe page to collect donations and explain the horrific crime situation around Floyd Square.

“Carjackings have almost tripled, and there is a high rate of car and catalytic converter theft. Reports of bullets whizzing through streets, businesses, innocent homes, and into cars and walls abound, and the constant gunfire day and night knows no season. Black businesses were not immune, windows were shot out indiscriminately, cars were stolen, and customers stopped coming near Floyd Square out of fear of the violence in the neighborhood and throughout the city.”

Floyd Square is now marked as an “autonomous zone,” and the left-wing radicals who reportedly control it have issued rules that whites must follow in the area.

The New York Post reported that “black businessmen who once thrived near Floyd Square say police have abandoned the area, creating a dangerous autonomous zone where crime has spiked and business has evaporated.”
