Biden’s climate plan advocates limiting red meat consumption? USDA denies

Hamburgers, with the common beef in the middle, are among the red meats.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture said Monday (April 26) that the claim that President Biden’s climate plan includes restrictions on eating red meat is unsubstantiated.

“It’s a fabrication. There is no such intent or policy in this administration. It’s not part of the climate plan and it’s not part of the emissions goals. It’s not true,” a spokeswoman for the U.S. Department of Agriculture told The Hill.

The Politico also reported that Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said at a briefing that there was no movement by the White House or USDA to restrict people’s intake of beef.

Former White House chief economic adviser Larry Kudlow cited a University of Michigan study on Friday (23) on Fox Business about Biden’s climate plan goals – Biden’s climate plan calls for a 90 percent reduction in red meat consumption from the diet, up to 4 pounds a year and and consuming only one hamburger a month.

The fact that Biden’s climate plan so targets the U.S. meat industry has prompted criticism of the matter from Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (D-CA) and others.

Greene tweeted (click here) citing a photo of Biden receiving a meal with the Japanese prime minister, with burgers in front of both sides. She wrote: “Hamburger people. The burger is not for you (Biden), it’s for me.”

Another congresswoman, Lauren Boebert (R-CA), tweeted, “Biden’s climate plan includes cutting 90% of red meat from our diet by 2030. They want to limit our consumption to 4 pounds per person a year. Why doesn’t Joe stay out of my kitchen?”

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) also tweeted (click here), citing a Fox report on the matter, that he would not let this happen in Texas.

Former economic adviser John Kudlow mocked Biden’s policy, saying, “There will be no burgers and no steaks grilled on the Fourth of July. I’m sure Americans would love that. You could be allowed to grill Brussels sprouts? So please be ready.”

“You can roast Brussels sprouts with plant-based beer and wave your American flag and call it ‘4th of July green.'” He added.

Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer, a Democrat, tweeted (click here) on Sunday that he was drinking frozen “plant-based beer” to watch the Oscars.

The sharp-eyed U.S. netizens watched, saying Schumer probably doesn’t usually watch TV because no one would sit in a hard wooden chair to watch entertainment.
