CNN Host Zakaria Attends “Favorable Reporting” Trip to Meet with Head of Chinese Communist Party Think Tank

National Pulse revealed on Saturday, April 24, that popular CNN host Fareed Zakaria had participated in trips to favorably report on the Chinese Communist Party and met with key think tanks run by the Communist Party.

Fareed Zakaria is a prominent American journalist, current affairs commentator and author of Indian descent who is now the editor-in-chief of Time Magazine and producer and host of the popular CNN current affairs commentary program, Zakaria’s Global Public Square.

The latest information adds to the overwhelming evidence that Zakaria has close ties to the Chinese Communist Party. Zakaria visited the “government-affiliated” Shanghai Institute of International Studies (SIIS) during his tenure as editor of Newsweek. During this visit, he met with the director, deputy director, and several directors of SIIS.

According to the U.S.-China Security and Economic Review Commission, SIIS, through its board member Dong Jianhua, was associated with the Communist Party’s foreign influence activities through the Communist Party’s “highest-level entity,” the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). Dong was the vice chairman of the Chinese Communist Party’s Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the “highest-level entity” in the CCP’s United Front.

The China-United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF), which Dong founded and leads, sponsors trips to China for top journalists from the U.S. mainstream media, called “familiarization trips,” based on the effectiveness of their reporting and the likelihood of favorable coverage of the CCP.

Zakaria met with officials from the Shanghai Institute of International Studies (SIIS) during his China familiarization trip, despite its public ties to the CCP’s foreign influence activities. The following is a previously unreported press release that

“On June 4, 2016 Dr. Fareed Zakaria, editor of Newsweek International, author of The Post-American World, and noted journalist and commentator, visited the Shanghai Institute of International Studies (SIIS) and met with Director Yang Jie-mian, Deputy Director Chen Dongxiao, Director of Asia-Pacific Studies Ma Ying, Director of American Studies Wu Chunshi, and Director of Research Management and International Exchange Department Director Ye Qing to talk about U.S.-China relations.”
