Chinese rights lawyer Gao Zhisheng missing for more than 3 years, rumors of another family member’s death by persecution

Chinese rights lawyer Gao Zhisheng has been missing for more than three years, and his family members who remain in China are being persecuted by the authorities, while his wife Geng He has had to go into exile in the United States.

Gao Zhisheng had his lawyer’s license revoked for representing Falun Gong practitioners, and was charged with “inciting subversion of state power” in 2006 and sentenced to three years in prison. After his release, he published his book “2017, Rise Up China” and his daughter Geng Ge came to Taiwan to attend the book launch and asked President Tsai Ing-wen for help.

In 2017, Zhisheng Gao was suddenly “disappeared” and has been missing since.

Gao’s family in China has also been severely persecuted, with his wife Geng and exile in the U.S. In May last year, Gao’s sister, who has long lived under surveillance by the authorities, died in Shandong, where she lives.

Yesterday, the Twitter account “Gao Zhisheng Lawyer Concern Group” again revealed the bad news that Geng’s brother-in-law is suspected to have been forced to a desperate situation, with his identity card confiscated and suffering from cancer but unable to buy medicine.
