It has been nearly five months since the founder of Hebei Dawu Group, Sun Dawu, was taken away, and his lawyer was once arrested by the Hebei police on suspicion of “provocation and nuisance”. The authorities have also sent 29 working groups to the Dawu Group and its subsidiaries. Recently, Zheng Chengyue, a consultant of Dawu Group, submitted 10 government information disclosure requests, requesting disclosure of information related to the 29 working groups.
According to rights.com, Zheng Chengyue submitted 10 applications for government information disclosure on April 12, requesting the government to disclose the legal basis, membership, workflow and operating income of the 29 working groups.
After Sun Dawu and group executives were taken away by the police on November 11 last year, the group’s legal team issued a statement on April 4 this year that Baoding, Xushui and other levels of government assigned a total of 29 working groups stationed in Dawu, controlling the group’s official seal, finances, interfering with the personal freedom of employees, the company’s major matters must be approved by the working group, the provisions of Dawu Hospital, Dawu School by the designated unit counterparts “Help”.
Zheng Cheng Yue said that the working group took over 4 months, he as a group consultant on these 29 working group approval matters, reporting procedures and other important matters are unknown. Dawu Group experienced serious loss of customers and technical personnel, turnover plummeted to a loss, and the autonomy of the enterprise was seriously affected. He hopes that the government can disclose information to protect the rights and interests of enterprises and restore their autonomous operation.
In response to Zheng Chengyue’s request, Cao Yaxue, founder of the Changing China website, who has long followed the case, told Radio Free Asia: “It’s an extremely abnormal thing to make a sudden arrest like this, to bring executives together, and then have the government send a working group in. Zheng Chengyue is a consultant of the Dawu Group, and the takeover of Dawu means that all the people of Dawu are excluded, so of course he doesn’t know (the information of the working group). (Zheng Chengyue request for information disclosure) will not get any response, but from his point of view, he must do what he should do according to the law, according to the normal situation should take the steps to go.”
Cao Yaxue believes that in China’s existing system, the encounter of the Dawu Group is representative of the vulnerability of private enterprises: “Sun Dawu said he has been to many places, met many private entrepreneurs, we have a common feeling is a sense of humiliation and insecurity, the source of these two feelings is that you do not know what will suddenly happen. Although in Chinese law, you are a private entrepreneur, but in the eyes of the totalitarian, the entire country, all the resources of the country, all the wealth created by the country, including what views individuals should hold, who they should be loyal to and what they should do, he believes that they belong to him, and he has the ultimate right to rule.”
With Sun Dawu is a private entrepreneur, has now left the United States, the former Qinghai provincial CPPCC member Wang Ruiqin believes that the nature of the Communist regime and private enterprises is the antithesis of the Communist Party is concerned about the public ownership of the means of production, so China’s private enterprises to fight hard, but at any time may be a pot, and China’s environment has changed, can not accommodate “Sun Dawu people “.
“There is a little influence of private enterprises, the government is now beginning to ‘systematic combing’, by all means, to make you take a stand ‘listen to the party, follow the party’, if you do not take a stand, you become Sun Dawu; but like Ma Yun, you such as influence is greater than the government, even if the statement, allegiance is not enough, to purge.”
Yang Bin, a member of the Dawu Group’s legal team, earlier published “Ten Questions and Ten Answers on the Dawu Case” on the Internet, mentioning his concern that the authorities had artificially upgraded Sun Dawu from a suspected “illegal public deposit-taking crime” to a “triad-related and evil-related crime”.
