Microsoft Corporation (Microsoft) is in advanced discussions to acquire Nuance Communications, a company specializing in artificial intelligence, for $16 billion.
Media reports indicate that technology giant Microsoft Corporation (Microsoft) is in advanced discussions to acquire Nuance Communications, a company specializing in artificial intelligence, for $16 billion. If the deal is completed, it will be Microsoft’s second most important merger ever.
U.S. media CNBC quoted sources as reporting that Microsoft’s initial bid last December is now willing to buy at $56 per share for a total of about $16 billion, a 23% premium over Nuance Communications’ closing price on the 9th. And that the deal could be announced tomorrow.
Microsoft and Nuance Communications (Nuance Communications) have not yet responded to AFP inquiries.
If the deal is completed, it will be Microsoft’s second most important merger after its $27 billion acquisition of business community site LinkedIn in 2016.
Nuance Communications, based in Burlington, Massachusetts, focuses on products for voice and imaging. In October 2011, it was announced that Siri for Apple’s iPhone 4S was running on the company’s servers.
